What you need to know about a proposed $1.6bn highway link between Mexico and Canada

Mexico and Canadian officials are looking at a proposed highway link that could connect the two countries in the far north, including the northernmost point in the United States, the Associated Press reported on Wednesday.

A draft agreement between the two governments says the two nations will build a highway linking the two sides in the border town of Ciudad Juarez, about an hour north of the U.S. border.

It was first announced in December.

Mexico has long considered the highway to be the ultimate symbol of a union between the countries.
