Sydney police have launched an investigation after a “fatal” crash in the suburb of Oakleigh last night.
The NSW Roads and Maritime Services (SMS) has opened an investigation into a collision involving a car and a cyclist on Oakleigh Rd in the CBD, near the airport.
Police said a police vehicle was sent to the scene and officers were seen on the ground at the scene.
“As the investigation is still in progress, a police officer has been placed on leave pending the outcome of the investigation,” a police statement said.
“We would like to reassure the public that the road is clear and no injuries have been reported.”
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident to contact the NSW Ambulance Service.
More to come.
