Why Australians shouldn’t worry about road transport licences and licences to carry on commercial activities

There’s no reason to worry about whether you’ll get a licence to drive your car, boat or plane, the ABC has learned.

The Australian Government’s Minister for Transport, Anthony Albanese, is confident that people won’t be able to drive on the nation’s roads in the future, despite the Government’s promise to abolish all driver licences and commercial driving licences.

Mr Albanese said the Government is making a “massive commitment” to the country’s road safety.

“If we keep on going down the road where we are, we’re going to see a big reduction in road safety and we’ll see a lot of people lose their jobs and it’s not going to be for a long time,” he said.

“The Government is committed to ensuring we get this right, and we are working very hard to ensure that we can get this done.”
