Bhutan road transportation is expected to reach 100 km in the next two years

Bhutan is planning to transport about 100 million liters of diesel a day, more than two-thirds of the country’s existing fleet, according to the countrys first petroleum minister.

Bhutan has been importing diesel from India for more than 40 years, and this year will add about two-third of the existing fleet to achieve its goal, said deputy minister of petroleum and natural gas Karmash Narang at a press conference on Tuesday.

It will also increase the use of new diesel-powered vehicles to reduce CO2 emissions, said Narang, a member of the ruling National Assembly.

India’s petroleum minister, Rajendra Prasad, said earlier this month that Bhutan was planning to double the fleet in the coming year.
